Happy Birthday Micah!

My my, I am sorry it's been so long since I've written. Kids are finally settling at the new school at Yamauchi, and LOVING it. I am so pleased with the staff. I had my doubts on sending my children to the public school in Japan because of the bullying issues that I constantly hear on the news, but so far, it's been so awesome. I don't know if they are learning anything yet, but I imagine they are at least subconsciously learning the language. I always ask my oldest if he can understand the subject matter, and his usual answer is no, but yesterday, he actually said, "YES!" I was thrilled. I asked him how he understood the teacher, and he told me he can kind of guess..meaning, there is something sticking in that big brain of his!

I am getting ready to throw a big birthday party for the Yochien class for my now 6 year old boy (turned 6 today!). The class AND teachers are coming to trick or treat on the base this Saturday (yes, Saturday at Kadena base). We are super excited to have them. I didn't want to do the typical American party: pizza, goldfish gone bonkers, and juice box with super sweet store-bought cake from the commissary, so I decided to enlist my Korean friends to cook up some yummy Korean food, orzo salad, (recipe from my friend in DC.), and pizza as well. We will finish it off with rootbeer floats (Micah does not like cakes-perhaps tired of the typical American cakes he eats at every other bday party?)

Will post some pics soon!
