Reusable Coloring Book

This year was supposed to be the time I scale back on our product development and spend time marketing.. but that simply is not happening... at the heart of who I am, I am driven more by what I love to do.. develop, create products! (sigh) And to be honest, as much as I love you all, I really dread the social media side of things..(even though I'm a total extrovert and I do love sharing to my customers about my whereabouts!) If it wasn't for the business, I would blot out my Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.. accounts right now. Poof! It would be gone... I have tried to hire someone to take over the SM part of the business but then you lose the personal side of the brand! This is all uncharted territory for me.. Anyway, my post is about some new products that are coming in for the summer shows in USA.. (Taking a break in Europe for the summer, sorry folks, I can't be at 2 places at the same time this year).. It is arriving  in June, Reusable Chalk Coloring Books with our Jaq Jaq Bird animal! :) The rest of the new products should be posting soon!! By the way, I'm losing my English living in Germany, yet, I can't seem to speak German either...(sigh again).

Mid Day Read: Thank Goodnes It's Nap Time for my Kids! #TGINT

It's okay moms & dads! Don't feel guilty that you LOVE your child napping while you make yourself coffee and have a little mid-day snack. Afterall, when they nap, that's when they get stronger, prettier, and healthier! When my kids were young, I definitely took advantage of their nap times to research about starting up Jaq Jaq Bird.  This was also a time to recharge as a mom. Those precious 2 hours everyday were the very seeds that were planted to grow Jaq Jaq Bird to a international company, right from my attic in a small townhouse in Washington DC. I would research about textiles, make phone calls, blog and email everyday until I scaled up. So enjoy this little mid-day break, get inspired and re-charged to be the best mom & dad you can be for your kids because they really do grow up quickly. Enjoy the time, make sure to give them some undivided attention (not looking at your device for 30 minutes! set a timer!)  

Chalking it Up

The business has thrived through our bread and butter collection of our wonderful chalk mats. This has been my medium to create prints that appeal to both parents & children alike. This philosophy has been a vector for me when I create products for Jaq Jaq Bird. When I create for the home, I like to appeal more to the parents, but when I create fun & whimsical products that kids enjoy, I love sitting down and drawing out the designs. I get inspired by simple things: color of a tee shirt that a toddler wears inside Target, a lampshade pattern at a restaurant, and of course Pinterest too! As I prepare for the ABC Show, please come by and see our newest prints and products for 2014.
